Equip yourself with a mastery of the fundamentals of visual art! These classes will give you a firm foundation on which to build your love for art.

Rather than focus on the techniques and mechanics of a particular medium, our goal is to arm you with the confidence to apply your newfound skills outside of class, to any media you desire: drawing, painting, fashion, sculpture, jewelry-making, sewing, architecture, interior design, photography, landscaping, web design, industrial design, cake decorating...whatever it is you're passionate about!

Classes are scheduled around sessions. A session is one class, once a week, for 5 weeks. (If you'd like to sign up for more than one class a week, that's fine, too!) You will
focus on the following themes each session:

Week 1: Elements of Design
Use an assortment of media to explore line, shape, direction, size, texture, color, and value.

Week 2: Principles of Design
Use the elements of design to apply the principles of balance, gradation, repetition, contrast, dominance, variety, and harmony.

Week 3: Biomimicry & Old Masters

Dive into the history of art and learn how to solve your own design hang-ups by exploring how the works of acclaimed artists echo the ultimate teacher of perfect design: nature.

Week 4: Self-Expression & Creativity
Discover how to put yourself into your work. Take the people, ideas, and events of your life and piece together their influcence with your personality to create art that is uniquely YOU.

Week 5: Giving Back
This is the heart of our teaching philosophy. The central purpose of building skills and following passions is to
share joy and serve others. Use your love for art to help and encourage your community.

Each class will be set up in stations focused on learning the fundamentals of that particular week. The format will remain the same each session so you can have repetition. When y hen you feel confident in your skill level at a particular station, you will move onto more advanced and sophisticated work at that station.

Anyone age 5 and older is welcome to become a student. 8 year olds will be working alongside and collaborating with 80 year olds. Families will be spending time in classes together. Everyone will have the opportunity to maintain flexibility in their learning styles and abilities, and grow in skill at their own pace, while enjoying a camaraderie that transcends conventional peer groups.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is there a Materials Fee?
No. All materials will be provided. However you're welcome to bring your own supplies for our special project during week #4.

May I purchase tickets for more than one class per week?
As long as there is space available in the class, sure!

Do you offer a discount to families who want to take a class together?
Yes! If more than 2 people in one family are taking a single class, you can buy additional Family Tickets at a heavily discounted price. We encourage families to spend their time together! (For example, if a mom, dad, grandma, and 3 children of eligible age want to join a class, they would buy two regular tickets and 4 family tickets)

What should I wear?
Wear old clothes or bring a smock. If you have long hair, tie it back. We will get messy!

Is there a waiting area for parents?
If you are choosing not to take the class alongside your child, there is a waiting area available on the first floor (otherwise known as the living room).

I want to participate, but I have little ones. Do you provide child care while I'm in class?
Child care is not provided, but if you need to bring a young child with you in order to participate, please feel free to do so!

I paid in full, but I got sick and missed a class. Can I make it up?
Yes, make-up days will be available for those who miss class due to unforeseen circumstances. Just contact Amy to reschedule.
